Surroundings and Central Location
Estepona: Centrally located in Andalucia
The benefits of Estepona´s central location in Andalucia and on the Costa del Sol are numerous. Within easy reach you will find lively cities, white villages, culture and beautiful nature.
The unique location, between the Mediterranean sea and Sierra Bermeja Mountains, allows visitors to enjoy a wide range of natural settings and activities in the direct vicinity of Estepona.
1. To the East
Popular beach destinations such as Marbella and Puerto Banus are only a 15-20 minute drive from Estepona.
Both Marbella and Puerto Banus have been (and still are) very popular with many foreigners and of course “the rich and the famous”. With trendy café´s, luxury shops, classy restaurants, clubs, casino´s and the most extraordinary yachts and cars.
People watching in these lively seaside towns is a great experience and one to be recommended !
2. To the West
To the West of Estepona, the marina of Sotogrande is worth a visit.
Sotogrande, and in recent years also Casares, is equally known for its world top golf courses (Volvo World Masters). Further west the rock of Gibraltar (England in Spain) is also worth a visit at only 35 minutes from Estepona.
Behind this impressive rock you´ll find the great (kite)surf beaches of the Costa da Luz. Starting at Tarifa on the Atlantic ocean and villages such as Bolonia (wide sandy beach), Zahara de los Atunes, Canos de Meca (nice bay) and El Palmar (wide and sandy (kite)surf beach) for a different beach day in summertime! (1 to 1,5 hour drive).
3. Inland Andalucia
From Estepona you can easily reach popular culture highspots in cities like Cordoba, Jerez, Seville, Granada and Ronda.
All within 1-2 hour drive from Estepona and perfect for daytrips! In wintertime it will only take you 2 hours from Estepona to be on your skies in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains near Granada. Also a great place to visit just for day walks in the nature.
4. Closer Inland – white villages and nature
Closer inland white villages such as Casares, Gaucin, Jimena de la Frontera and Monda are also worth a visit; typical white villages built on large rocky and green mountains with spectacular views.
Nature reserves like the Sierra Bermeja, Alcorconales, Sierra de las Nieves and Pedregales surround the Estepona area and offer lots of beautiful mountains full of flora and fauna year around.
Ideally suited for organized day trips (hiking, safari, climbing or walking). Don´t forget to take a relaxing break every now and then in one of the many great Spanish “Venta´s” : Good quality (often roadside) restaurants in the mountains!
